Alberta Winter Festival 2026

Killarney was proudly represented by 28 swimmers in the 12 & Under age categories, competing against the best swimmers in Alberta at the Alberta Winter Festival ❄️🏊‍♂️. Our team delivered an outstanding performance, setting an incredible 120 personal best times, earning 10 🥇 gold, 11 🥈 silver, and 6 🥉 bronze medals, and finishing the meet as the 4th overall team 👏🔥.

A huge congratulations to Sophia Shpak, who broke all three 12 & Under Breaststroke Club Records, while also setting new Provincial Records in the 50m (33.76) and 100m Breaststroke (1:13.01) 🚀💥. An incredible achievement—great job, Sophia! 👏🥇

Sunday’s finals session kicked off with a special ceremony recognizing swimmers who achieved Youth Recognition Times 🎉:

• Top 5 Alberta (10 & Under): Jacqueline Li, Daniel Maclock 🏔️

• Top 10 Canada: Dorothy Dean 🇨🇦

• Top 1 Canada: Sophia Shpak 🇨🇦

Sunday evening also featured a special relay event, where the top eight 50m freestylers in each age category competed on Team Alberta Blue and Team Alberta Red 🔵🔴. Emily Piatek, Dorothy Dean, Sophia Shpak, and Mark Lawalall earned spots on the Alberta relay teams—well done! 🤝🏊‍♀️
