KSC Top Club at AB Summer Festivals
The Killarney Swim Club was in action at the AB Summer Festivals last weekend at the University of Lethbridge’s Max Bell Aquatic Center. The team sent a contingent of 33 swimmers.
Killarney swimmers owned the pool. The team won 42 medals including 25 Gold! With that KSC was the top finishing club at the meet. Edmonton Keyano finished second with 21 Gold Medals. The team established 240 best times, 3 Provincial Records, and 2 club records.
The club had several key contributors:
Dorothy Dean took the podium 7 times dominating the 11-year-old girls’ category with 7 Gold Medals. Jacquline Li earned 6 individual medals with 3 Gold (10-year-old category). Sophia Shpak set 3 Provincial and 1 Club Records sweeping the Breaststroke events. Shpak added Gold in 200 IM, 100 IM, and Silvers in 50 FR and 50 FL (11-year-old category). Elyse Jugnauth was a Quad Gold Medalist and added 2 more individual medals to her tally. Lauren Rawnsley won 10-year-old 100 Fly and added bronze in the 50 Fly. Rawnsley also set a new Club Record in the 200 Fly for 10 & U. Emily Piatek picked up the bronze in the 11-year-old 50 BK.
For the boys it was Benjamin Wu leading with a double gold performance in 50 BR and 200 BR 9 & U category. Both Eren Oz and Lincoln Yee were double bronze medalists (12-year-old category).
In the relay events, KSC showed the province how it’s done. KSC relay teams earned 7 medals including 4 Gold!
