Provincial and Club Records Fall at EKI

The team was in action at Edmonton Keyano’s annual International Event.  The meet attracted about 500 swimmers from Alberta and BC.  This was the last tune up competition before AB Summer Championships.

KSC was represented by 12 swimmers.  The team produced 37 best times, winning 14 medals including 4 Gold. 

Sophia Shpak (11) topped the podium 3 times in the breaststroke events.  She tied her Provincial Record in the 50 Breaststroke.  In the 200 breaststroke she swam to her first ever SNC Junior Trials time standard and new club record.  Shpak was awarded 13 & Under swimmer of the day 3 times.

Charlie Trofimuk (18) broke the Killarney Club Record in the 50 Breaststroke.  Trofimuk is KSC’s first swimmer to break the 30 second barrier.   He swam 29.96 in the Prelim and 29.84 in the final for 2nd place.

Sophie Holowaychuk (13) won 100 Fly and collected 5 individual medals.

Other Medal winners: Nicole L’Heureux (200 FL-3rd), Kade Morgan (200 BR-3rd), Smantha Thistle (200 BR-2nd), Evelyn Washbrook (50 FL-3rd), Soren Young (200 BR-3rd).
