Thank you, Coach Mike Meldrum!

November 11, 2025

After 29 remarkable years of leadership, mentorship, and dedication, the Killarney Swim Club extends its deepest gratitude to Head Coach Mike Meldrum.

During his time with Killarney, Mike watched the club grow from just 50 swimmers to a thriving community of 235 athletes. Through his vision and commitment, he built a program that encouraged swimmers to strive for both athletic and personal excellence, creating an environment where every athlete could reach their full potential — in and out of the pool.

Over the years, Mike’s influence extended far beyond Killarney. He represented Swim Alberta as a Provincial Stroke Coach, was selected as a Junior National Team Coach in 2024, and was named Swim Alberta’s Female Junior Swimmer Coach of the Year in 2025. His passion and expertise have inspired countless athletes and coaches across the province and the country.

Mike’s final season as Head Coach was one of incredible success. He coached two swimmers who represented Alberta at the 2025 Canada Games, guided a Killarney athlete who represented Canada on the Junior National Team, and led nine swimmers who qualified for Swimming Canada’s World Trials. These achievements are a testament to his exceptional leadership and the culture of excellence he built within the club.

Beyond the accolades and accomplishments, Mike created something truly special — a team that feels like family. His daughters, Mackenzie and Morgan, both swam for Killarney and went on to coach alongside him, carrying forward his values and passion for the sport. And through it all, his wife Tania has been a steadfast source of support for Mike and the entire Killarney Swim Club community.

From all of us at Killarney, thank you, Coach Meldrum, for 29 unforgettable years. Your dedication, leadership, and heart have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire generations of swimmers to come.
